KMC rescues 73 children at risk in the past one and half year

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has rescued 73 children since mid-July, 2023.

KATHMANDU, Feb 25: Kathmandu Metropolitan City has rescued 73 children since mid-July, 2023.


Those rescued include 41 boys and 32 girls. Of them, 38 children were sent to the protection house, while 34 others were reunited with their families. The cases of seven children were forwarded for judicial process.

Member of the Child Rights Committee, Prabin Silwal, said in two recent incidents, complaints were filed based on the psychosocial report and joint monitoring report of KMC. 


Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol has stressed on paying attention to legal and practical aspects, methods and measures to be adopted to prevent negative impacts on the psychology of children.  


"Though there are different bodies working for children's welfare, the objective of all is the same. Let's continue the collaboration and coordination. We have guaranteed the presence of local police representatives in the ward women network," shared Dangol.


Similarly, Deputy Inspector General at Nepal Police's Women, Children and Senior Citizen Service Directorate, Uma Prasad Chaturvedi, mentioned that  action would be initiated preparing the format of the complaint based on details in any format for the safety of citizens.
