PM Oli reaffirms his commitment to deliver justice to Prakriti Lamsal

KATHMANDU, Feb 25: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli spoke with the parents of Prakriti Lamsal. He expressed his grief about the mysterious death of Prakriti in Odisha, India, and assured them that the government would provide all possible support for justice.


CPN-UML leader Mahesh Basnet visited the family at their home in Bhairahawa, expressed his condolences to Prakriti's parents and family, and conveyed their concerns to Prime Minister Oli.

The Prime Minister has committed to initiating efforts for justice and offering the necessary support to punish those involved in the crime while gathering more information about the incident.


He said, "This news deeply saddens me. It has brought grief to all of us. We cannot undo what has happened. It was an unfortunate event, and we must face it with patience. An investigation is underway." He also expressed confidence that a fair investigation would ensure justice.


During the conversation, Prakriti's father, Sunil Lamsal, thanked the government for its efforts and stressed the need to prevent future pain for other students going abroad for studies. Sunil said, "Our incident has already happened. Many Nepali children are there. We do not want such incidents in the future. The government must take action in this matter. The incident has happened, the tragedy has occurred." In response, Prime Minister Oli assured that the government had taken this case seriously from the beginning and reaffirmed his commitment to securing justice for Prakriti.


Prakriti Lamsal, who was studying at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, was found dead on February 16. Odisha police have arrested a student from Uttar Pradesh, India, on charges of involvement in the incident and are conducting an investigation.
