A clash in Nawalparasi leaves 16 police officers injured

A clash broke out between two groups in Belaspur, Palhinandan Rural Municipality, Nawalparasi West.

BUTWAL, Feb 25: A clash broke out between two groups in Belaspur, Palhinandan Rural Municipality, Nawalparasi West.


Police reported that the clash stemmed from a dispute between individuals from Belaspur and Prasauni over a local couple's love marriage. Locals told the police that the groom's side attempted to set fire to the bride's house, escalating the conflict.

To control the situation, police fired three rounds into the air and used seven rounds of tear gas, according to a police personnel.


Protesters also set fire to a police vehicle of the Maheshpur Area Police Office.


Police officials informed that 5 locals, 12 civil police officers, and 4 armed police officers were injured while trying to calm the crowd. The situation is now under control.
