KMC arbitrarily distributed Rs 360 m: audit report

KATHMANDU, Oct 30: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) officials have been found to have secretly distributed over Rs 360 million in “advance payments” to its staffers, representatives of political parties, contractors and local clubs over the years, according to a recent audit report.



The audit report shows that officials have distributed Rs 360.9 million without specifying the reasons. “The metropolis has not maintained transparent account and has arbitrarily distributed money allocated for development projects,” claims the report.[break]



It has been revealed that the KMC provided Rs 4 million in grant to one local club of ward 29 whereas dozens of contractors have been given over Rs 2 million as advance payments. The report claims that the KMC misused the money allocated by the ministry of local development and finance ministry for development projects.
