KATHMANDU, July 3: CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal has held the UCPN (Maoist) responsible for the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly (CA).

Addressing a seminar jointly organized by Nepal Intellectuals Council and Nepal Academy on Wednesday, Chairman Khanal argued that the UCPN (Maoist) has to take responsibility for the dissolution of the CA as it was the largest party in the CA and was also leading the government then. [break]

Khanal said the country is in a crisis as the UCPN (Maoist) failed to adhere to the principles of democracy and politics of consensus and cooperation. “We should all now be working toward making CA successful,” he said.

Addressing the seminar, Vice Chancellor of Nepal Academy Ganga Prasad Uprety said that the Nepal government had failed to introduce its language policy. He suggested to the political parties to finalize the language policy before drafting the new constitution.

Likewise, Chairman of Nepal Intellectual Council Dr Dinesh Chandra Devkota said that the seminar was organized to help the government formulate language policy. He said intellectuals working in the field of language, literature, and culture need to help the state to formulate a linguistic policy.

Prof Dr Jibendra Dev Giri, Basu Dev Adhikari and Dr Durga Prasad Dahal had presented separate papers on various aspects of linguistic policy of Nepal on the occasion.
