Japan hands over new classroom building at Prabhat Kiran Secondary School in Gorkha

The new classroom building at Prabhat Kiran Secondary School in Gorkha district was officially handed over on March 18, with Tamura Takahiro, Charge d'Affaires ad interim of Japan to Nepal, attending the ceremony.

KATHMANDU, March 19: The new classroom building at Prabhat Kiran Secondary School in Gorkha district was officially handed over on March 18, with Tamura Takahiro, Charge d'Affaires ad interim of Japan to Nepal, attending the ceremony.


According to a press statement issued by the Embassy of Japan in Nepal, the construction of the classroom building is part of the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects supported by the Government of Japan. Implemented by the Japanese NGO Child Fund Japan, the project is in its final year of a three-year plan aimed at improving the learning environment and boosting student attendance in Gorkha. In addition to constructing classrooms, the initiative also includes teacher training programs and efforts to establish child-friendly schools.

During the ceremony, Tamura commended the efforts of everyone involved in the project. He expressed hope that the school would be well-maintained and that the various training programs would continue, further enhancing the child-friendly learning environment.


He also shared his expectation that the students of Prabhat Kiran Secondary School would play a vital role in fostering people-to-people relations between Japan and Nepal and contribute to Nepal’s future development.
