Jabegu gives Seti Devi winning start

KATHMANDU, Sept 20: Ashok Jabegu scored the decider to give Seti Devi Higher Secondary School of Sindhupalchowk a winning start in the finals of National Coca-Cola Cup Inter-school Football Tournament on Friday.



Seti Devi defeated Gyanodaya Balbatika of Lalitpur 1-0 in their boys’ match held at the ANFA Technical Center in Chyasal, Lalitpur. Jabegu beat the Gyanodaya defenders and goalkeeper Chandan Maharjan to score the winner in the 63rd minute. [break]



Seti Devi has three points in Group D of the tournament. Seti Devi will take on Sautha Higher Secondary School of Morang in the next match.

Bal Sirjanalaya Secondary School of Kathmandu thrashed Jana Higher Secondary School of Surkhet 4-0 as Bishwa Pradhan scored a brace and Suman Lakanda and Manjit Lama added a goal each.



Meanwhile, the match between Creative Learners of Bhaktapur and Bhupu Sainik Higher Secondary School of Syangja ended in a 2-2 draw.

Amrit Shahi scored both the goals for Bhupu while Ujjwal Bata and Rabi Mastara Shrestha were on target for Creative.



In the girls’ section, Bhawani BK scored four goals as Deepjyoti School of Banke thrashed Arunima Secondary School of Kathmandu 6-0. Puja Rana and Sangita Chand were also on the scoresheet.



Likewise, Sunita Yonjan scored four goals as Janajyoti School of Rautahat hammered Army School of Bhaktapur 8-0. Sangita Shrestha and Rita Tamang netted a brace each for Janajyoti.
