“ICT today has become the basis for achieving economic goals and our government is committed to develop the sector,” he said, adding, the on-going optical fiber expansion would play a key role in making internet accessible in all parts of the country.

President of CAN Suresh K Karna said the lack of concerned ministry and authority to look after ICT was one of the biggest hurdles in the expansion of the sector. “To develop in ICT, we don´t require huge investment. The only requirement is the will power and proper environment,” added Karna.

The event has 51 stalls of 35 different companies and is targeted at people with interest in software solutions.

InfoDevelopers Private Limited, the title sponsor of the event is offering new version of integrated and innovative office management solution called iOffice targeting co-operatives. It features an integrated solution with real time operations without relying on periodic updates and has common database supporting all applications.

Likewise, Social Aves is offering attractive package to corporate houses for facebook advertising. Sameer Bhusal, assistant social media manager of the company, said that the packages start from Rs 15,000.

Sky Nepal is unveiling a new range of storage solutions from QNAP and severs workstation of IBM and Lenovo. “We are targeting big as well as small enterprises with special discount for the visitors of the SofTech,” Ritu Rana of Sky Nepal said.

CAN officials said they were expecting more of quality visitors than the buyers at the event. Amrit Pant, secretary of CAN, said that as the event was focused on spreading information, their target was to provide more information than selling products and services.
