Speaking at a media briefing in the capital on Monday, CAN President Suresh K Karna said the event like SofTech was important to encourage software developers in the country and bring more innovation in the sector.
The event will have stalls of 51 companies, including firms developing software for education, computer security, banking, accounts and other sectors. Likewise, service companies like telecom operators, Internet service providers and security solution providers are also participating in the event. The event will also have stalls of different government agencies.
CAN has been organizing SofTech for last five years to raise awareness and to develop Nepal as an alternative hub for software solution and services. The association is targeting footfall of around 50,000. Last year, the event had drawn around 45,000 visitors.
Narayan Neupane, general secretary of CAN, said they were trying to make the event more organized this year. “This year, we will have two pavilions - one for ICT services and solutions and the other for software. The Software Pavilion will have stalls of firms specializing in networking, mobile and security solutions; software developers and sellers and Internet service providers, among others,” said Neupane.
Speaking on the occasion, Umesh Raghubanshi of Info Developers - the title sponsor of the event, said he was hopeful that the event would play a great role in raising awareness among people about the use of software and other platforms. “It will also provide a platform for software developers and ICT companies,” he added.
Info Developers is preparing to launch four different software for financial institutions during the CAN SofTech.
The organizers are also planning a short session on computer applications with application developers at the sidelines of the event. “Many Nepalis are developing applications for leading companies and we believe the SofTech will bring them together under one roof for better interaction and sharing of knowledge and expertise,” Kishor Panth, first vice-president of CAN, said.
