Organized by the Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) Federation, SofTech is an annual exhibition where different domestic and international software solution and technology companies showcase their products and services.SofTech 2015 will have a total of 142 stalls, according to the organizers.
"The exhibition is a platform for business promotion, product exhibition and knowledge transfer through which visitors can get all information related to software technology as well as the use of latest technology," Rom Kanta Pandey, coordinator of 8th CAN SofTech 2015, said.
The stalls will offer services like computer education, banking, information management, accounts management, antivirus and computer security. The stalls will also offer security solution, wireless solution, printing solution, and various applications for different computing devices and smartphones, according to the organizers.
"We have included firms dealing on computer devices and smartphones in the expo as software companies are not much interested to participate in the expo," Binod Dhakal, president of CAN Federation, said.
Similarly, various IT companies, business process outsourcing (BPO) firms, software developers, ISPs and telecom companies, among others, are taking part in the event.
Bishwo Ram Balami, general secretary of CAN Federation, said that 70 percent of the stalls have already been booked. The organization has fixed entrance fee for general visitors at Rs 50 and for students at Rs 25.
"We are hopeful that the expo will help in promotion and development of software industry, thereby contributing to economic development," Dhakal said, adding that software industry has the potential to make significant contribution to GDP.
Subisu Cable Net -- network and television service provider -- is the title sponsor of the event. Cloud service provider Access World is also associated with the event.
Binaya Mohan Saud, CEO of Subisu Cable Net, said that the company was launching various types of software soon. "We have launched first clear TV service in the Valley and now we are expanding it in major cities like Birgunj, Dharan, Itahari among others," he added.
