The event will have about 60 stalls of different software development companies and most of them have already been booked, according to Binod Dhakal, general secretary of CAN.
“We have arranged a free stall for the best software designers from all the development regions and also for the best software designers from all the universities,” Dhakal said, adding that the basic motive of the event is not to generate profit but to educate people about the importance of software for the development of information and technology (IT) market.
“Hardware is an essential part for information technology but the overall development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is the software,” Dhakal said and added that the proper development of ICT can be brought through 3S -- software, services and solution.
We don´t want this exhibition to be like the InfoTech where people rush in to buy new hardware, Dhakal said. “We want people to have time to talk to the exhibitors and get the knowledge on software and also want to provide a platform for software development companies, different organizations who use software and ICT students to meet together to know about the market,” he added.
CAN, the umbrella organization of ICT companies across the country, has 56 district committees.
Apart from software companies, educational institutions and government agencies like Revenue Investigation Department are also taking part in the exhibition. “They are participating in the event to make people aware about the services and technology that they have embraced,” Dhakal added.
Midas - a well-known name in medical software programming - is the title sponsor, while Midas Educate is the platinum sponsor of the annual event.
“There are many companies in Nepal that are developing world class software and even insourcing jobs from different international companies. But they don´t want to expose themselves due to fear of extortion,” Dhakal said and informed that the event has drawn attention of some companies from Bangladesh too.
“The development of information technology is possible only through the development of the software industry,” Dhakal said, adding, “That is why we are working hard to make this event a grand success.”
