Indian army chief returns home

KATHMANDU, July 14: Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army General Bikram Singh has returned home on Saturday after completing a five-day visit to Nepal.



Singh arrived in Nepal on July 10 leading a six-member delegation at the invitation of his Nepali counterpart General Chhatraman Singh Gurung. He met Gurung, President Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, among others.[break]



Matters relating to mutual interests and bilateral relations and cooperation were discussed during the meetings. President Yadav had conferred the title of honorary general of the Nepal Army on Singh amid an Investiture Ceremony at Sheetal Niwas on Wednesday.



This is the first foreign visit of General Singh after he took charge of the Indian Army as its CoAS on June 1, 2012. NA´s Lieutenant General Gaurab SJB Rana bid farewell to Singh at the Tribhuvan International Airport this afternoon.
