BIRATNAGAR, Nov 16 : Imports, including petroleum products, through Jogbani checkpoint at Nepal-India border has resumed since last week, according to Biratnagar Customs Office.
Customs Officer Rajendra Dhungana told Republica that the flow of supplies, including petroleum products, have been at normal levels for the last six days.

“Right now, there is no obstruction at Jogbani checkpoint in the supply of goods from India,” said Dhungana.
Four LPG bullets, two tankers of diesel and 110 cargo trucks entered Nepal by Monday evening, as per Biratnagar Customs Office. After the conclusion of Bihar polls, 199 tankers of petroleum products have entered Nepal, which included 122 tankers of diesel, 50 tankers of petrol and 29 LPG bullets.
Customs Officer Dhungana said, “Resumption of imports from India via Jogbani border point that began last Wednesday continued unobstructed on Monday.”
Meanwhile, Vice-chairman of Petroleum Transportation Dealers Association, Eastern Region Arbindra Sharma said that there were no obstructions, including delay in fueling at depot and checking at Indian customs.
However, India may have allowed resumption of imports in view of the Chhath festival, Sharma said.
Locals in Biratnagar still have to line up for fuel at Nepal Oil Corporation depots. Until a few days ago, the queue for fuel stretched for about one kilometer and people had to wait for 15 days for their turn at the fuel stations.
It is learnt that Biratnagar Depot of Nepal Oil Corporation sends 75 per cent of petroleum products brought for Koshi and Sagarmatha zones to Kathmandu. Due to this, locals in these zones are facing acute shortage of petroleum products.
