His statement has come when other leaders from the party have been presenting themselves as prime possible ministerial candidates if NC gets to lead the next government. [break]
"There are many things (in me) to establish that I can be prime minister," Rijal said while talking to reporters in Biratnagar on Monday.
"I am a Constituent Assembly member. I am known to be an influential leader (in the party). I do have capability to lead the country," he elaborated.
The NC leader, however, said this is not the right time to think of changing guards in the government considering the more urgent standing issues of peace and constitution.
Should the parties focus on accomplishing the pending tasks, Rijal said the new constitution would be in place in five months´ time.
Koirala, who is also a member of Special committee for supervision, integration and rehabilitation of Moaist combatants, further expressed his optimism that the peace process will be completed without much delay as most of the issues regarding the integration of the ex-PLA fighters have already been agreed upon.
