Houses constructed breaching code to be demolished

MORANG, June 2: The Biratnagar Sub-metropolitan City is preparing to demolish the buildings of more than two and a half-storied constructed without approved design, according to Executive Officer of Sub-metropolitan City Gopal Prasad Regmi.

The existing government building code allows construction of maximum of two and a half-storied building in Biratnagar area. Executive Officer Regmi said that a meeting of sub-metropolitan city's ward secretaries would be called soon to this effect.


He said the secretaries would be directed to demolish the physical infrastructures constructed by flouting the building code.

Most of the buildings in the town are built against the existing code, Engineer at the Sub-metropolitan City Bharat Neupane said.

Executive Officer Regmi said that the house owners would be pre-informed to demolish their houses and the municipality would charge the entire demolition cost if the locals refused to demolish themselves. RSS
