Gyanu Baba registered two wins from as many league matches played on Wednesday.[break]
In its first match, Gyanu Baba defeated visiting Eastern Railway of Kolkata, India, in straight sets 25-10, 25-19, 25-9. Gyanu Baba, captained by national volleyball player Manju Gurung, thumped Balodaya Higher Secondary School of the same city 25-19, 25-16, 25-11.
Eastern Railway coach Vidyut Ghosh said that his side failed to put better performance due to absence of good players in the squad as they are currently participating in knockout tournament in India.
In another match played on Wednesday, Fishtail Higher Secondary School of Pokhara toiled hard to beat Tops Higher Secondary School of the same place in 3-2 set. Fistail captained by Popular Player of the Year Sipora Gurung won the match 22-25, 25-19, 19-25, 25-22, 15-7.
Meanwhile, another match played between Armed Police Force (APF) and Eastern Railway was called off after third set owing to bad light. APF had won the first and second set 25-18, 25-16 while Eastern Railway had won the third set 20-25. The match will be played on Thursday.
Meanwhile, two matches scheduled to be played by Young Star Club of Bhutan against Nepal Police Club and Workers Martyrs Memorial Club could not be played on Wednesday after the team from Bhutan failed to arrive Pokhara on Wednesday.
According to DB Nepali, secretary of organizer Western Regional Volleyball Association, the team is on the way and will arrive in Pokhara by Thursday morning. Young Star will play its both matches on Thursday.
