KATHMANDU: REP-UBLICA: In its attempt to attract more Chinese visitors to Nepal, the government has decided to waive visa fee for Chinese tourists for a maximum of five months.

Issuing a press statement Sunday, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that Chinese tourists would not have to pay visa fee for a maximum of five months. The government on December 25, 2015 had decided to wave visa fee with effect from January, 2016.

The government had taken the decision in line with a longstanding demand from Nepali tourism entrepreneurs, who said the move was necessary to uplift the industry badly affected by the earthquakes and the ongoing Indian blockade.
