KATHMANDU, Feb 11: Rikhiram Bhattarai, the Kapilvastu District Organisation Chief of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been arrested on charges of spreading hatred and breaching confidentiality through posts on his personal Facebook account.
Bhattarai, a resident of Dhaneshpur village of Banganga Municipality-8, allegedly made public bank transaction documents that were under police investigation by posting them on his Facebook wall on Monday. Following the posts, police arrested him on Tuesday from Kapilvastu Municipality-2, according to DSP Ripendra Kumar Singh.

Police claim that Bhattarai had previously used Facebook on multiple occasions to defame individuals.
DSP Singh said that legal proceedings have been initiated against him under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063 BS. The Kapilvastu District Court has granted a three-day remand to facilitate further investigation.
Earlier, an audio recording had also surfaced in which Bhattarai was allegedly heard verbally abusing a leader from his own party.
