KATHMANDU, Nov 19: A government delegation is leaving for China on Friday to sign contract on import of petroleum products from the northern neighbor.

Joint Secretary at Ministry for Supplies Shambhu Ghimire, said a seven-member Nepali delegation will leave for Beijing tomorrow.

The team comprises representatives from Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Ministry for Finance, Law Ministry and Nepal Oil Corporation.

Meanwhile, Minister for Commerce and Supplies Ganeshman Pun said there won’t be much difference in price while importing petroleum products from China than from India.

“We have already requested China not to impose dual tax on petro products to be imported by Nepal and they are positive,” Minister Pun said, “However, a formal agreement is yet to be reached.”

NOC had signed Memorandum of Understanding with Petro China Company Limited in Beijing on October 28 to import fuel.

The Chinese government has already provided 1,000 tons of petrol in grant to Nepal to cope with fuel shortage resulted by Indian blockade.
