Govt slaps 15 firms with cash fines of over Rs 350,000 over misconducts

The Department of Commerce, Supply, and Consumer Protection (DoCSCP) on Sunday slapped 15 business outlets with cash penalties on charges of not abiding with the government rules.

KATHMANDU, October 13: The Department of Commerce, Supply, and Consumer Protection (DoCSCP) on Sunday slapped 15 business outlets with cash penalties on charges of not abiding with the government rules.



According to the DoCSCP, it fined over a dozen of firms with cash penalties of Rs 365,000 in total. These firms have been found not maintaining maximum retail price on the products they sold, while a number of them failed to maintain the price details.

KK Metal Store in Kathmandu Metropolitan-13 was fined Rs 100,000. Similarly, Shraddha Bhada Pasal of Kathmandu-27 and Prakash Baniya Bhada Pasal and Baniya Bandhu Bhada Pasal of Kathmandu-24 have been slapped with cash fines of Rs 50,000 each.


Meanwhile, red cherry pepper chilli (dalle khusani) sold in Kalimati Vegetables and Fruits Market were found laden with high amounts of chemical contamination. According to the Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Market Development Board, the chilli brought from Makwanpur was found with more than 54 percent of organophosphate, pesticide.


Previously, high amounts of chemical contaminations were found in squash, cucumber and sponge gourd being sold in Kathmandu Valley.
