Minister Yadav made this remarks at a program organized by Bhaktapur Chapter of Federation of Nepali Journalists ( FNJ) to honour journalists with the financial support from the District Development committee, Bhaktapur on Thursday.[break]
Stating the country has been divided into two poles due to increasing gap and mistrust among the parties, Minister Yadav stressed on the need of consensus among political parties to take the country on right track.
Mentioning that consensus should be made in favour of the people, the Communication Minister said that consensus should be sought from the same point from where parties had separated.
Minister Yadav said matters of government change could be discussed only after the consensus on giving outlets to the country and promulgating the new constitution.
The Information Minister further pledged to implement the Working Journalists’ Act (WJA) at any cost, adding the government has begun the works of establishing Journalism Research and Training Centre to increase quality of journalism.
Similarly, Minister for Information and Communication Yadav said the government has decided to establish the ´Journalism Welfare Fund´ targeting those journalists completing for 25 years in their profession.
The government has also making arrangements of journalists´ life insurance and insurance of their gadgets including vehicle and camera keeping in mind the rising incidents of attack on journalists, he said.
On the occasion, Minister Yadav honoured Chief Editor of Majdoor Daily, Bishnu Gopal KC with Rs. 5,000 and a copper plaque.
Another journalist, Mathawor Singh Basnet who also selected for award did not come to receive facilitation saying that time has not come to honour him.
Chief District Officer Tejendra Bahadur Bhandari expressed his worries over the non- implementation of WJA.
Similarly, Local Development officer, Rajendra Kumar KC, said that the District Development Committee was committed to providing support for the development of journalism.
