Issuing a press statement on Wednesday, Giri had accused that the allocation of the budget for fresh election is a ‘height of corruption’ by the present government and demanded that President Ram Baran Yadav rectify his mistake by scraping budget allocated for the election through Article 88 (B) of the Interim Constitution.[break]
Mentioning that the president himself had given the present government a caretaker status, Giri argued that a caretaker government cannot introduce a full-fledged budget.
Endorsing a full-fledged budget proposed by a caretaker government means the president’s earlier decision was a big mistake, Giri said. She added that the president’s step has also indicated that the present government is not a caretaker one.
“A caretaker government can’t introduce full-fledged budget. We don’t have a history of such systems in the world,” the statement reads.
The government had announced a budget of Rs 351.93 billion for the remaining eight months of fiscal year 2012/13 on Tuesday.
