KATHMANDU, Sept 9: Protesters on Tuesday pelted stones at the Khumaltar residence of Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chair of the CPN (Maoist Center), as the youth-led “Generation Z” movement entered its second day in the Kathmandu Valley.
The protests, which began as demonstrations against corruption, inequality and the recent government ban on social media platforms, have escalated sharply in the federal capital and other parts of the country.

This came a day after police opened fire on crowds in Baneshwor, leaving 17 youths dead in the Valley and at least two more outside. The crackdown has drawn widespread condemnation and triggered resignations from cabinet ministers.
On Tuesday, demonstrators defied curfews and heightened security to continue their agitation. The stone-pelting incident at Dahal’s residence underscored the growing anger against top political leaders, whom protesters accuse of failing the country’s young generation.
The Gen Z protests have quickly become one of the most significant youth uprisings in recent years, shaking the ruling coalition led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and intensifying calls for political accountability.
