Minister Bhatta claimed that the current crisis would end within a week while speaking at an interaction program in Reporters Club on Friday. [break]

He informed that the government decided to remove the Value Added Tax (VAT) on diesel and gas to ease the fuel crisis.

The government is trying to forge new understanding between the Indian Oil Corporation and Nepal Oil Corporation to ease the fuel problems, he said.

There is no alternative other than to import petrol from India, he added.

When asked about the diesel plant to be brought to reduce the load shedding hours, he said that the diesel plant is not useful for Nepal and added that it would be a failure.

"Instead of diesel plant, we can think of transmission lines, developing the solar energy and small hydropower," he said.
