KATHMANDU, Oct. 18: The Federal Democratic Front, an alliance of different fringe political parties, has urged the President to play active role to safeguard the country from turning into a failed state.

Leaders of all seven parties represented in the front met President Dr Ram Baran Yadav at the Office of the President on Thursday and urged the President to play a directive role to save the country from turning into the failed state as the country was going to be a failed state due to major political parties´ irresponsible acts.

The leaders of the front also said that the leaders of major political parties including the opposition leaders were not serious to the country´s problems.

During the meeting, they submitted a three-point concept paper to the President demanding to hold the fresh elections by safeguarding the past achievements to institutionalize the federal democratic republic.

After the meeting with the President, leader of Rastriya Madhes Samajbadi Party Sarat Singh Bhandari said that the President was urged to play an active role in the capacity of the patron of the Interim Constitution of Nepal as political tug of war among the major political parties was leading to further crisis in the country.

It is said that the President has assured the leaders of the Front to hold serious discussion with the leaders of major political parties on Friday´s meeting.
