NEPALGUNJ, Nov 6: Some five blackbucks kept in a small zoo died within 45 days after they were infected with foot and mouth disease in Banke district.

Among 23 blackbucks, five died of the disease and two are still suffering. The disease transmitted from spotted deer would possibly be transmitted to the other 16 blackbucks, other animals and birds in the zoo, said Banke District Livestock Office.

It is said that the disease was transmitted one after another animals lacking sufficient space and sanitation in the zoo.
