The delegation led by FNCCI President Suraj Baidya called on Dahal at the latter´s residence in Lazimpat this morning. Finance Minister Barshaman Pun was also present at the meeting.[break]
During the meeting, the delegation stressed on the need of a complete budget and urged Dahal to bring in a full-fledged budget for the new fiscal year. They also urged him to initiate parleys with other political parties to forge consensus for that.
Emphasizing on the need of a complete budget, Dahal assured the FNCCI team of working towards bringing a complete budget and taking an initiative to forge political consensus. He was also of the opinion that the country´s transitional phase should not affect the economic sectors hindering development activities.
Talking to the media after the meet, Minister Pun said, the FNCCI team urged Dahal to create an environment for consensus to bring in a full-fledged budget for the next fiscal year on time.
They also proposed to Dahal to forge at least minimum agreement on economic agendas. UCPN (Maoist) chairman has taken the advice on a positive note.
Underlining the need of a complete budget, Baidya, emerging from the meet, said that the delegation has urged the leader to work on forming an environment for a timely full-fledged budget.
"We met Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala and CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal before meeting Dahal, we have put forth our concerns regarding budget to them," FNCCI President Baidya said, adding, "All of them have not denied the need of full budget. They , however, have stressed on the need of consensus. We have also urged them to forge consensus and not drag budget into politics."
