While thanking the government they represented for their cooperation and involvement in the rescue and relief operations in the earthquake affected areas, Minister Pandey highlighted the need to use the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund (PMDRF) for reaching out to the people in need of relief and support, according to a press statement issued by the MoHA.
He informed that the government has set up the Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Fund with a target of collecting Rs 200 billion and has already transferred Rs 20 billion to the fund as seed money.Minister Pandey also informed that the Post Disaster Need Assessment (PDNA) was being carried out and a detailed report of the assessment would be available soon.
He also said that the funds required for rehabilitation and reconstruction could be much higher than the current estimates according to the statement.
Minister Pandey mainained that Nepal government placed high priority on the restoration of the monuments and sites of t historical, cultural and archaeological significance, some of them being the famous world heritage sites.
He asked all the Honorary Consuls General/Consuls to communicate Nepalese government's rehabilitation and reconstruction plans and initiatives to the governments they represent and play a proactive roale in garnering more cooperation and support.
The briefing was followed by an interaction session where the participants shared their views on the need for broader cooperation between the government and the private sector particularly to revive tourism as well s other sectors.
Honorary Consuls General/Consuls expressed commitments to do their best to help Nepali government's rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.
