Three people died on the spot after a bus (Lu 1 Kha 4310) overturned at Jorte in Deurali village of Palpa at around 8 pm.[break]
The deceased are yet to be identified. Police were still trying to remove the dead bodies from under the wrecked bus till late Monday night.
According to Assistant Sub Inspector Rishi Ram Gyawali, who reached the spot shortly after the accident, 15 passengers were injured as the bus, which was heading to Gulmi from Palpa, skidded off the road. They are being treated at Mission Hospital in Tansen. Police are yet to identify the injured.
Similarly, two persons of a family were killed after being run over by a truck (Na 3 Kha 2735) along the Bhimdutta Panta Highway in Teghari, Malakhet VDC-8 of Kailali at 6 pm. A pregnant woman was also injured in the accident.
Sanja Ojha, 35, of Malakhet-8, and her daughter Rupa Ojha, 11, were run over by the truck while they were returning home after cutting grass for their cattle. Indira Mahara, 40, who is pregnant with a seven-month-old baby, was also hit by the truck. She has been rushed to Seti Zonal Hospital from treatment.
According to Superintendent of Police Basanta Panta, the truck was returning from a wedding procession. Police said the driver was drunk and driving recklessly.
According to police, both the truck and its driver have been taken under control.
