PM Oli inducts four ministers


PM KP Sharma Oli appointed Ishwar Pokherel, Ram Bahadur Thapa, Matrika Yadav and Yubaraj Khatiwada as ministers. Pokharel, Thapa, Yadav and Khatiwada were appointed as Minister of Finance and Planning; Defense; and Industry, Commerce and Supplies respectively.



On the run for long, Resham Chaudhary surrenders


 Resham Lal Chaudhary, the main person alleged in the Tikapur incident of August 24, 2015, surrendered to the Kailali District Court in the morning today.  Following his surrender, the court is scheduled to decide if the latter is to release Chaudhary on general date, n bail or keep him in custody.

Corruption and sloppiness intolerable in Province 2


An 11 point commitment letter has been publicized by chief minister Lalbabu Raut of Province 2 to establish good governance.  The paper states zero tolerance against corruption, maintains slackness in government administration intolerable and orders government effectiveness within 24 hours.  


Padlocked Campus Office opened after six months


A seven point agreement between the All Nepal National Free Students Union and Campus administration helped to resume the campus after six months. The agreement states that the campus would address students’ demands, including cancellation of illegal appointment and fee hike, maintenance of financial transparency and educational reforms in campus within mid-March. 


Minister champions girls education


Thammaya Thapa Magar, minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare stressed that a society would prosper only after all women were educated. Linking women to agents of change, she advocated and encouraged women representation in all sectors.  


Chlorine gas symptoms reported in eastern Ghouta, Syria


Several people suffered symptoms consistent with exposure to chlorine gas in Syria's rebel-held eastern Ghouta and one child was killed, local health authorities said. Victims, ambulance drivers and others reported smelling chlorine after "an enormous explosion" in the area of al-Shayfouniya.
