Ex-fighters enforce shutdown in eastern region

TAPLEJUNG, Jan 2: Maoist PLA ex-fighters, who have been excluded from the army integration process for being disqualified, have enforced shutdown in the eastern region today putting forward the demand for respectful rehabilitation.



Life in eastern region districts including Taplejung, Panchthar, Ilam and Jhapa have been affected due to bandh. Vehicular movement has been entirely disrupted and industries and educational institutions have also been closed down since early Monday morning. [break]



The ex-fighters have enforced shutdown in different regions and districts putting forwards various demands including their management, disclosure of details of fund received from the UNMIN in the name of disqualified combatants.



At least 4,008 ex-fighters languishing in the cantonments had to go outside after the UNMIN labeled them ´disqualified´.
