The EIA is expected to be completed within six months from now, informed Rara Project Private Limited, which plans to invest Rs 4 billion in the hotel to be built near the scenic Rara Lake.[break]
The company had initiated the paperwork for the construction of the hotel three years ago.Last year the company had completed the project schedule and received permission for the EIA, informed an environmentalist consultant for the project, Dr Ramesh Bhatta, who has arrived in Mugu for the purpose.
According to Bhatta, the 200 hectares of land 1 Km distance away from the lake is the proposed site of the hotel.
Amid a public hearing program in the district headquarters, the company informed that process for EIA has been started for the hotel construction as per the provision of Environment Conservation Act-1997, Environment Protection Rule -1997, and Himalayan National Park Rule-1979.
The company further informed that it is yet to decide on how much shares to be issued to the local. The company said that the numbers of shares and the employment for the local people will be decided after accessing the annual revenue of the hotel.
The company, which informed it has leased the land for the hotel for 30 years, said that that the hotel will be operated abiding by the rules and regulation of the National Park. As per the plan, the company will construct 7 luxurious buildings in the first phase. The hotel project is expected to provide direct employment to 300 people, and also planned to conduct skill oriented and income generating program for the people living in the buffer zone area of the national park.
According to the plan, the company will try to attract more tourists with the local cultural shows, gulf court, cycling lane, boating, and Jungle safari among other programs in the hotel. The company has also floated the idea of making a trekking route from Jumla to Rara and Bajura to Rara.
According to locals, the hotel project might face some difficulty as the National park is have not been demarcated completely.
