The day was Saturday and the schools were closed when the 7.8 richter earthquake hit Nepal. The disaster caused a huge loss of lives and property. The death total has reached over 8000 and the quake has made many families homeless. Here is a story of a girl studying in grade eight who was taken out from her collapsed house after the quake. Her name is Samira Basnet. She lives in Machhegaun,Kirtipur,Kathmandu,Nepal with her other three family members. As the school was closed she had her food lately than the normal time. Then she turn on the TV. After about 15 minutes, the earthquake started. She said she did not notice at all as she was fully concentrated to the TV. But when her mud house started going to pieces she was afraid. She could not find the way out.

In the no time the roof of the house reached the ground. She said she was not buried totally by the first quake but the second quake after about 10 minutes she got buried totally. She was lucky that she went under the window. There was no serious injury except some cuts. She could take breath because there was a gap around her nose. She had the hope of being rescued. She had faith on herself. She said she remembered the God when she was under the collapsed house.

Then the local people along with us started searching her in the collapsed house. As the broken pieces were being removed we heard the louder sound of her. In the mean time we saw her hair. Then we started removing the remaining faster. After some time we got her hand. Again we continued. Then we got her half body. Finally we pulled her.

She said she had hard times for a week. She said the quake made her frighten time to time, she felt quake all the time. She could not have food properly and sleep nicely. But now she is totally fine.
