KATHMANDU, May 29: The Office of the Controller of Examination (OCE) has permitted dual registration for SLC students from earthquake-hit districts so that they can appear in the exams from the place they have relocated to for safety.

"Many students from the earthquake-hit district have been forced to leave their place and travel to other districts," said Exam Controller Bishnu Bahadur Dware. "Such students can write their exams from a new school in the area they have shifted to."

For the ease of the students severely affected by earth quake affected, the Office of the Controller of Examination (OCE) Board meeting decided to allow dual registration for the board exam this academic year. The OCE board has forwarded the decision to the Ministry of Education for approval, he added.

The OCE, a few years ago, had barred the students with dual registration from appearing in the board exam after it was revealed that students from private schools misused the provision to get admission at community schools few months before SLC to enjoy government scholarships in higher studies.

To avoid such anomalies this time round, the OCE has said that community school students can appear in the SLC exam from private school but not the other way round.
