Driver arrested with Chinese goods worth Rs 2.2 million

KATHMANDU, Dec 16: Armed Police Force (APF) has taken a driver into custody for transporting Chinese goods without proper invoices and customs clearance.



According to APF Spokesperson Deputy Inspector General Manish Thapa, the driver was apprehended in Bahrabishe, Sindhupalchok district. The driver Shivlal Tamang, a resident of Bahrabishe–6, was intercepted by security personnel from the APF Base Lamosanghu while traveling from Tatopani to Khadichaur in vehicle number BA 4 Kha 5864.

The consignment, which included stationery, sports items and groceries, lacked the required bills and customs documents. The total estimated value of the seized goods is Rs 722,010 and with the vehicle valued at Rs 1.5 million, the total value stands around Rs 2.22 million.


Tamang, along with the confiscated goods and vehicle, is being handed over to the Tatopani Customs Office in Sindhupalchok for further legal action.
