KATHMANDU, Jan 21: The Armed Police Force (APF) in Parsa has seized goods worth Rs 212.82 million in the first six months of the current fiscal year 2024/25. This is an increase of over Rs 66.85 million compared to the same period last year.
Battalion Commander of APF Nepal, Battalion no 13, Radheshyam Dhimal, said that goods worth over Rs 210 million, smuggled by evading customs, have been seized in the first six months of the current fiscal year.
He said “With the increased activity of the APF, there has been an increase in the seizure of smuggled clothes, electronic goods, hardware, motor parts, food and groceries. The APF has deployed two trained dogs at the Birgunj customs checkpoint to conduct inspections.”

The APF said that during the first six months of the current fiscal year, goods worth Rs 164.74 million, including clothing, electronics, hardware, motor parts, food items, and grocery items, were seized for customs evasion and handed over to the Birgunj Customs Office.
Similarly, goods worth Rs 4.60 million, which lacked receipts, were handed over to the Revenue Investigation Office, Pathalaiya.
The APF handed over goods worth Rs 47.7 million, which were brought into the country by evading customs, to the Birgunj Customs Office in the first six months of the fiscal year 2023/24. During the same period, goods worth Rs 98.2 million, which lacked bills, were handed over to the Revenue Investigation Office. Parsa district shares a 107 km long open border with India.
