Some 165 people of 4, 7 and 8 wards of Sikharbeshi VDC of Nuwakot district suffering from diarrhea were treated on Thursday. [break]
All the people suffering from diarrhea are said to have consumed buffalo meat on the occasion of Saune Sankranti. The diarrheal outbreak spread on Tuesday morning with people of all ages affected by the disease.
A team of health workers from the district headquarters Bidur have been providing treatment to the ailing people. Of the ailing, 13 are said to be in serious condition.
“Patients are still coming for treatment,” Dr Ramesh Bikram Singh, Superintendent of Trishuli Hospital, said. He said that more people could be infected in the village. The health workers have set up a camp at local Manedada Primary School as the even the nearest health post is too far from the villages.
