Dhungana awarded Prakash Human Rights Award 2068

KATHMANDU, July 31: Pokhara-based human rights activist Nawadutta Dhungana, 80, has been felicitated with Prakash Human Rights Award 2068 amid a program in Pokhara on Tuesday, Informal Sector Service Center (Insec) said in its press release.



Speaking at the program, Chairman of Nepal Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Kedarnath Upadhyay lauded  human rights activists’ roles in political and social sector of the country. [break]



“The protection and preservation of human rights is not possible unless discriminated citizens enjoy their rights, Kamaiyas concerns are addressed, women are not discriminated and discrimination in the society is uprooted,” Insec Chairman Subodh Pyakurel said in the program.



With the award, Dhungana bagged a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
