KATHMANDU, July 7: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) shedded 22.35 points to close at 2,684.01 points on Monday.
The secondary market added 12 points in the pre-opening session and reached the day’s high at 2,718.11 points. The market however could not retain its charm for investors and suffered a downhill plunge from the beginning of the main trading hours. The market reached the day’s low at 2,680.56 points in the last 19 minutes before it closed for the day.

Only two groups--hotels and tourism, and mutual funds gained 41.80 points and 0.01 points respectively. Of the 11 losers, life insurance shed the highest of 124.58 points.
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, declined 4.13 points. The daily turnover amount declined to Rs 8.37 billion from Rs 9.50 billion on Sunday.
Among the individual companies, 39 were gainers while 209 were recorded as the losers. Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 807.05 million.
Rapti Hydro And General Construction Limited was the highest loser. Mathillo Mailun Khola Jalvidhyut Limited gained the largest of 6.56 percent of its market value.
