KATHMANDU, April 1: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) lost 16.95 points on Tuesday to close at 2,676.17 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,693.12 points, initially soared to the day’s high at 2,696.41 points in the first 12 minutes, but plunged irremediably to the day’s low at 2,654.93 points within two hours of the trading. The market recovered around 22 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

Out of 13 groups, only trading gained 163.50 points. Hotels and tourism index lost the largest of 113.53 points.
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also fell by 3.57 points. Daily turnover amount declined to Rs 5.79 billion from Rs 7.56 billion on Sunday. The market remained closed on Monday due to the government announcing the public holiday on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.
Among the individual companies, only 42 were gainers while 201 were registered as losers. Himalayan Reinsurance Limited had the biggest turnover of Rs 642.56 million.
With a decline of 5.56 percent of its market value, Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was recorded as the biggest loser. Guardian Micro Life Insurance Limited stood as the largest gainer.
