Dahal urged the business community to exert pressure on all political parties to create a consensus for timely announcement of the budget. President Ram Baran Yadav has also urged the government not to announce a full budget without a national consensus.
The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday quashed a writ petition demanding an interim order to halt the announcement of a full-fledged budget. Dahal has hailed the SC´s decision, stating that it has also paved the way for a full-fledged budget.
On the occasion, the delegation urged Dahal to take the initiative to announce a full-fledged budget on time through national consensus.
“We asked Chairman Dahal to intensify dialogue with other political forces to forge consensus for a full-fledged budget on time. We also sought his support for a common minimum economic agenda floated by the business community for the economic prosperity of the nation,” Pashupati Murarka, vice-president of FNCCI, told Republica after the meeting.
According to him, the FNCCI delegation said a national unity government would be the best option for creating a favorable economic environment in the country.
The FNCCI delegation has already met Nepali Congress President Shusil Koirala, CPN(UML) Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai and former finance ministers to discuss the budget.
