KATHMANDU, Dec 23 : Gold prices in Nepal surged sharply on Tuesday, rising by Rs 5,500 per tola in a single day to reach an all-time high, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (FNGSDA).
The FNGSDA fixed the price of gold at Rs 267,200 per tola for the day, up from Rs 261,700 on Monday. The precious metal has been setting new records consecutively, mirroring a strong rally in the international market.

During trading on Tuesday, gold prices in the global market climbed to USD 4,485 per ounce at around 10:50 AM NST. One ounce is equivalent to 2.43 tola.
Silver price has also been hovering at record levels in recent days. On Tuesday, silver gained Rs 20 per tola, rising to Rs 4,255 from Rs 4,235 the previous day. In the international market, silver price crossed USD 69 per ounce.
