“The current government turned into a kitchen cabinet, with Bhattarai distributing ministerial berths to members from his own faction,” a politburo leader quoted central committee member Bhakta Bahadur Shah, who is close to Dahal, as saying at the meeting. [break]
Accusing the ministers from the party of appointing reactionaries in their personal secretariats, Sah complained that the Maoist ministers do not even give time to meet central committee (CC) members and party lawmakers.
“Even CC members and lawmakers have to wait for hours to meet them,” Shah said.
Stating that that there has been an emergence of upper and lower class leaders in the party, Shah also raised the issue of financial irregularities in the party. He was of the view that while the party money is being misused by the center, the party at the local level depends on smugglers and black marketers for funds.
Speaking at the meeting, Pushpa Bikram Malla, also close to Dahal, accused Bhattarai-led faction of being “opportunist”.
Politburo member Narayan Sharma, who is close to party Senior Vice-chairman Baidya, defending Baidya´s document said that the party had launched the people´s war even during adverse circumstances. “But leaders are reluctant to launch a revolt even when the situation is favorable now.”
Another politburo member Kul Prasad KC, also close to Baidya, accused Dahal of intending to split the party by mentioning in his political document that “leftist narrow-mindedness” was one of the challenges facing the party.
“To say so in the political document is to sow seeds of spilt in the party. It needs to be rectified,” KC told Republica.
