KATHMANDU, April 24: Nepali cricket team´s vice-captain Gyanendra Malla is all set to join the rest of the team in Bermuda after the British High Commission in New Delhi granted him transit visa on Wednesday.

According to Kiran Rana, a member of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), the UK authority granted transit visa to Malla on Wednesday morning. Malla will now fly to the Caribbean nation to participate in the ICC World Cricket League Division 3.[break]

On Tuesday, the British authority had denied visa to Malla citing conflicting birth dates in his documents and said that he needed to undergo an interview to confirm his date of birth.

The British authorities had granted transit visas to all the other Nepali cricket players on Tuesday and the team had flown to Bermuda via London the same day.

“The British High Commission in New Delhi granted visa to Malla after he underwent interview,” Rana told Republica.

According to CAN General Secretary Ashok Nath Pyakuryal, Malla is scheduled to fly to Bermuda via London from Delhi on Wednesday night.

With uncertainty over Malla´s participation in the tournament, CAN had included Naresh Budhayer in the team as a possible replacement for Malla.

Nepali team is scheduled to play a practice match against Bermuda XI on Thursday before starting its Division 3 campaign on Sunday against the USA.
