CPI-M donates Rs 52.2 million

KATHMANDU, June 10: General Secretary of the Communist Party of India-Maxist (CPI)-M, Sitaram Yechury, has said that the Indian government and his party were always ready to help Nepal in reconstruction task.

At a news conference organized here on Wednesday, General secretary Yechury, who arrived here to hand over relief amount for the support to quake survivors, said that he handed over a check equivalent to Rs 52.2 million to Prime Minister Sushil Koirala.


Clarifying that the relief amount was not of any industrialists, he said, "Cadres of my party collected the relief amount from people within two days."

Yechury said that Nepal itself should take decision regarding the new constitution, adding suggestions and advised should be asked from all sides but decision should be its own.

He added it took 10 years to India for state restructuring of the country. So political consensus should be forged regarding the modality of the new constitution.

Welcoming the 16-point agreement signed among political parties, he expressed believe that the political parties would prepare the modality of the new constitution within a month. RSS
