Court orders release of RPP leader Dhawal Shamsher Rana on Rs 300,000 bail

The order was issued by Judge Shiv Prasad Khanal on Monday in connection with the violent Tikune incident on March 28, during which Rana participated in a pro-monarchy demonstration as the party’s mobilization coordinator. He was arrested the same day as one of the key accused.

KATHMANDU, June 16 : The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the release of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) General Secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana on a bail of Rs 300,000.


The order was issued by Judge Shiv Prasad Khanal on Monday in connection with the violent Tikune incident on March 28, during which Rana participated in a pro-monarchy demonstration as the party’s mobilization coordinator. He was arrested the same day as one of the key accused.

Rana had earlier been released on health grounds by court order and paid a Rs 50,000 fine. However, he had remained out of contact with police after his release. He appeared in court on Monday for a statement, after which a detention hearing was held. Following the hearing, the court ordered his release on bail.
