NEPALGUNJ, Sept 21: The coronavirus death toll in Banke district has risen to 11 after a male prisoner infected with COVID-19 died at Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City recently.
Naresh Shrestha, the COVID-19 focal person at the District Public Health Office, Banke, said that the prisoner who hailed from Sahare of Gurbhakot Municipality in Surkhet died of COVID-19 at an isolation center at 6:25AM on Monday. He was 58. The deceased was serving a jail term after being convicted of murder.

His nasal and throat swab samples were collected and sent for COVID-19 test which came positive. Earlier, he showed coronavirus-like symptoms. Earlier, 10 people died of coronavirus in the district. Of the deceased, four were from other districts.
