CoAS heading for India today

KATHMANDU Feb 1: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Rajendra Chhetri is to begin his week-long official visit to neighboring India from Monday.

According to Nepal Army (NA's) Directorate of Public Relations (DPR), the CoAS was invited by his Indian counterpart Genral Dalbir Singh and the government had approved the visit last Wednesday.

During the visit, General Chhetri will be conferred an honorary title of Indian Chief of Army or Honorary General by the President of India President Pranab Mukharjee amidst an Investiture Ceremony.

The tradition of honoring each other's army chiefs with the honorary title has been into practice since 1950. Along with his counterpart, the CoAS Chhetri will meet Chief of Air Staff Arup Raha of India Air Force, Chief of Naval Staff Robin K.

Dhowan of Indian NAVY. He is also scheduled to meet India's Home Minister, Defense Minister, and Foreign Affair Minister among others. The CoAS was supposed to visit India after Prime Minister's official visit to India.
