Inaugurating the event, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said the government is planning to issue smartcard identity card to all the citizens. [break]
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chairman of High Level Commission for Information Technology (HLCIT) Manohar Bhattarai said the certification unit for internet-based transaction has already been constituted to promote e-commerce in Nepal. He further added that the works for e-governance has reached the final stages.
The six-day event, organized by Computer Association of Nepal (CAN), is being held as a mega event of information, communication and entertainment technology. The event features 270 stalls from more than 100 companies.

The event is sponsored by Logitech, HP, Samsung, Nepal Telecomm, Su-Kam and UMAX.
CAN has expected more than 400,000 visitors in the exhibition.
