The Fun Park has said it has completed the necessary process for the initiation of the project which would complete in two years. [break]
Founder of Fun Park Ambika Prasad Poudel said they have completed the environmental impact assessment (EIA) from the Ministry of Science, Environment and Technology to begin the construction of cable car that joins Thankot to the Chandragiri hill, a tourist destination.
Similarly, discussions were continuous to ascertain which company from Germany, France and Switzerland would best fit to import the cable car, he told the National News Agency (RSS), adding, "It would cost some Rs 2 billion for the project that navigates 2.4 km length- from Thankot to the Chandragiri Hill."
Eighty ropanis of land has been purchased for the cable car station.It is said the cable car would provide the facility to as many as 1,000 passengers every hour.The founders of the Fun Park are, however, yet to decide the cable car capacity. If they select the car with 8-seat, they would bring 24 cable cars and if for 6-seat car, there will be 32 cable cars.
The lower station of the cable car has already been linked with blacktopped road and the company is upgrading it including the gravel road to reach Chandragiri Hill.
The construction of the cable car will be the joint venture of IME group, Bhatbhateni Group, an NRN living in Austrialia Uttam Nepal, Elite Capital Chairman Gyan Bahadur GC and Managing Director of the Hathway Investment Nepal Ambika Prasad Poudel.
Chandragiri is the highest hill in the Kathmandu Valley vicinity from the top of which, Mount Everest can be seen.The construction of cable car atop the Chandragiri Hill from Thankot, an outskirt of the Kathmandu Valley, would bring tremendous tourism potentials in Nepal.
